Tensile tests

Matrices: 2014T6, 6061T4 and 6061T6
Reinforcements: Al2O3 fibres in 2014 alloy (11 and 15% vol.) and particles (20% vol.) in 6061.

Comparison of stress-strain curves with AE cum.counts vs. load curves
individuation of AE events due to phenomena related to reinforcement (orientation or failure)

SEM fractographs (presence of inclusions, not uniform volume of reinforcement)

Oligocyclic fatigue tests (20 Hz)

AE results confirmed the different nature of reinforcement and matrix cracks (counts vs. duration plots)
